The idyllic Calais Wine Estate is situated deep in the heart of the Paarl Valley. About a 40 minute drive from Cape Town you will find the farm nestled at the foot of the Drakenstein Mountains. With its breathtakingly beautiful views which includes the likes of Paarl Rock, the surrounding valley and mountain ranges as far as the eye can see, one almost loses a sense of reality being surrounded by such amazing beauty.
The farm has been producing wine for the past three centuries and the vineyards are situated on terroir perfect for making our wines in the traditional French style Bordeaux. Our wines are made to have strong aging potential with optimum drinking ability five years after bottling. At full production our farms will produce no more than 200 tons of grapes (production will be restricted to 9.5 tons per hectare) as our whole operation is geared to handle small quantities. Meticulous attention is paid to every detail, and preparation, before anything else, is key to our success.
