Brian’s Engineering is a family-owned, steel manufacturing business in The Helderberg in Somerset West. Brian Roux founded the company in 1968 and we have built a solid reputation for service excellence over the past 48 years. This has ensured constant repeat business and referrals from our satisfied customers.
Our well-trained staff members have been with us for many years and we pride ourselves on our quality workmanship, attention to detail and after-sales service. No product leaves the workshop without Brian Roux’s personal seal of approval. Brian or his daughter, Deirdre, who joined the company in 1987, are regularly on site and closely monitor all our installations.

We have specialist staff available for new installations. As a result, we offer prompt and efficient service for the upgrade, repair and servicing of all equipment. These include sliding and swing gate motors, garage motors and doors, CCTV cameras, perimeter beams and all access control equipment. We use highly reputable, quality-assured brands such as Centurion and ET System products for new installations and upgrades.

Burglar Bars
We manufacture and install both internal and external Spanish-style burglar bars, which are made from solid square or solid round steel. You can choose from a range of cast-iron mouldings that can be incorporated into our designs. As a result, our designs are enhanced in both appearance and aesthetic appeal.
We also make a popular and attractive design for PVC aluminium opening windows, by creating an outer frame with horizontal cross bars. This gives the appearance of being part of the actual window frame.
Pool & Mesh Fences
We manufacture this U-shaped, standard pool fencing according to SABS and municipal specifications. Another popular alternative is a bar or tubular steel fence or balustrade. Consequently, this provides a more decorative finish that enhances your pool area.
Steel Bar Fences
We make this fence from hollow, square or round tubing. There are many different decorative cast-iron Spears and Fleur-de-lis finishes to choose from for use along the top of fence. Another option is to use decorative cast-iron newel balls on all the panel posts only. As a result, you have a different, more elegant finish.
Steel Palisade Fences
This fence is made from rolled, profile steel. It is a popular choice for enclosing the perimeter of a property because it is relatively inexpensive and cost-effective. As a result, many residential properties, security complexes and developments choose this option.
Louvre Doors & Designs
Brian’s Engineering manufactures various louvre designs such as custom-made partitions, gas bottle enclosures and storage sheds.
The louvre enclosures are designed to look like wooden, slatted structures. They are durable and maintenance-free.
Driveway Gates
Our driveway gates are manual or automated sliding and swing versions. The swing style has either double or single gates.
We have many designs, both arched or straight, with many additional decorative options such as our leaf pattern. We can also incorporate decorative steel cover plates that give more privacy where required.
Pedestrian & Security Gates
Our pedestrian and security gates are also manual or automated sliding and swing versions. The swing style also has either double or single gates. The sliding version comes with a track and guide system.
We have various designs available for you to choose from that suit your particular requirements and style. The decorative cast-iron grape and leaf moulding, which gives an attractive finish, is one of our popular choices.
We can incorporate “doggy” bars for pets into all security and pedestrian versions. They can also be fitted with various wooden finishes or full or half steel cover plates that provide extra privacy.
Railings & Panels
Our railings and balustrading have horizontal or vertical bars. They can be plain or enhanced with wrought iron ornamental castings.
We use steel for boundary wall openings.
