Blueberry Hill is a boutique winery situated on the slopes of Middagkrans Peak, Franschhoek. The grapes are grown in clay based soils ideally suited to Merlot and are hand sorted on the vine to ensure optimal and even ripeness resulting in a complex and long lasting wine with layers of blackcurrant, cherry and chocolate flavours backed up with fine structural support. The wine is matured for 24 months in 66% new French Oak barrels.
We are hugely assisted by our Consulting Winemakers Chris Albrecht and Ossie Sauermann. Ossie scooped the 2008 Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year award for a Single Vineyard Shiraz from La Vigne.
The John Platter Wine Guide is an authoritative reference handbook that covers all aspects of wine in South Africa, including cellars, vineyards, wine routes, wine makers, and, the raison de être for the publication, ratings and tasting notes for thousands of South African wines.
