ABOUT THE COMPANY
“Crafty Friends” is a home based business venture that caters for orders with no minimum quantity of any single item. In-house design capabilities and pre-production rendering provide clients with quick turnaround and an overall good service experience.
The business was started by the owner in 2007, concentrating on machine embroidery on towels, clothing etc. Clients purchased the articles mainly as personal gifts. Very successful marketing was done through word-of-mouth and craft - and flea markets.
As the business grew, demand increased for printing on client specified articles, leading to the addition of heat based printing as a service.
Small DIY and fun art developed as a new trend and CNC cutting and engraving machines were added to the inventory for the manufacturing of paper gift boxes, ornaments, envelopes and cards for all occasions.
In addition to this, a service to supply pre-packed and marked stationery packs for congresses, meetings, seminars, conferences and schools are rendered.
The supply of branded Corporate Gifts and Apparel was added to the inventory.
Recently, a Ribbon and Label Printer was added to the inventory. Giving us the ability to print labels and ribbons for the gift, school and event's market.
The target market for “Crafty Friends” are individuals, organisations, schools and the local business community.
Advertising is currently done via word-of-mouth and social media.

We prefer to supply the garments to print on but do print on garments you supply. In the case that you supply the garments, it must be new and not yet washed, as soapy residue or softener could cause the vinyl not to stick to the garment or not last as long.

Some of the leading suppliers, but not all, are:
Sublimation Printing
Sublimation printing is a printing process that transfers images or designs onto materials such as fabric, mugs, wood etc., by using heat to turn ink from a solid to a gas without a liquid stage. The colours are permanent and embedded into the substrate or fabric. It is also known as dye sublimation printing.
Not all materials can be sublimated on but by using different printing paper, most materials can be sublimated on.
Sublimation looks best on white fabric garments of which the content of the fabric has a higher % polyester than the mix; eg: 60% polyester - 40% cotton.
Sublimation on dark coloured fabric is possible but has a plastic/rubbery feel to it; like heat transfer vinyl.
Note that if you wish to have a gift or garment sublimated, we prefer to obtain the item to ensure that it is sublimate able. We do not accept responsibility if your product doesn't adhere to the standards.
Prices are determined and quoted by item/garment or print.
Ribbon & Label printing
A new addition to the business is the printing of ribbon and labels.
Ribbon for gifts and special events is printed on request. You choose the colour en width of the ribbon and the colour ink the writing must be.
Ribbons are available from 10mm to 100mm width with increments of 5mm.
